Help
The questions that keep coming up, and what to do about them. If yours is not here, write to us at accounts@beelang.app.
Getting started
Do I need an account?
No. Open a course and the first lesson starts. Beelang keeps your progress on the device and works signed out; an account is what carries it elsewhere.
How long a day?
A lesson takes five minutes, and one a day is enough to hold a streak. Nothing stops you doing several.
Where do I start?
With the course written for your language: the courses in English. Each one starts from nothing, alphabet included where there is one to learn.
Your account
Creating an account
It takes a first name, an e-mail address and a password. We send a six-digit code to that address; typing it in finishes the job. The code is good for thirty minutes — if it has not arrived, look in the spam folder and ask for another.
Signing in
“Sign in” at the top of this site opens the sign-in window. In the app it is the account screen. Same address and same password on both sides.
Forgotten password
“Forgot your password?” in the sign-in window. Give the address the account uses: a six-digit code arrives, also good for thirty minutes, and then you choose a new password.
What about signing in with Google or Apple?
It exists in our code but it is switched off today. For now, an account is created with an e-mail address.
Hearts and the streak
What are hearts for?
You have five a day. A wrong answer costs one; at zero the lesson stops and you wait for the next day, when the stock is back to five. Beelang makes them unlimited.
What breaks a streak?
The streak counts consecutive days with at least one lesson finished. A day with no lesson sets it back to zero. Signed in, it follows you from one device to the next.
Beelang
What does it add?
Unlimited hearts, word-by-word pronunciation correction through the microphone, and the course’s grammar sheets — the six cases on the Russian course.
How is it billed?
Monthly or yearly, your choice. A subscription renews by itself until it is cancelled, and the price, the plan and any trial are shown before you pay.
Who takes the payment?
On the web, the provider you choose: Stripe, PayPal or, for Russia, YooKassa. The card is entered on their page and never on ours — no card number reaches Beelang.
What about a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play?
In the Android app installed from Google Play, Beelang Plus is bought through Google Play, except in Russia, where payment goes through YooKassa. Google does the billing: a subscription taken out there is managed and cancelled in Google Play › Subscriptions, not here. Purchases through the App Store are planned and are not live today.
Is there a partner programme?
Yes. If you publish about languages, travel or learning and would like to recommend Beelang, you can apply to become a partner: you get your own code and link, and a commission on each new subscriber you bring. An application asks for your name, your address, where you publish and the size of your audience, and nothing more — no identity document. Become a partner.
Cancelling
The Subscription screen in the app stops the renewal: Plus stays active until the date already paid for, and nothing further is taken. A subscription billed by a store is cancelled in the store account. Deleting the app cancels nothing.
Pronunciation and the microphone
How do the pronunciation exercises work?
The exercise listens while it is running and compares what it hears with the word expected. Two engines are possible: one runs entirely on your device once its model has been downloaded, and the audio never leaves; the other is your phone’s own recogniser, in which case the audio may go to Apple or to Google and be processed under their terms.
I cannot speak right now
Any pronunciation exercise can be skipped, and another takes its place. In settings, pronunciation — and listening — can be paused for an hour or until you switch it back on. The microphone permission itself is withdrawn in your phone’s settings; the rest of Beelang carries on.
The recogniser gets it wrong
It happens: it can refuse a correct pronunciation or accept an approximate one. A button lets you carry on anyway, and the exercise never has the last word on your progress.
Your devices
Moving to another device
Sign in to the same account on the new device: points, streak, hearts, finished lessons and review cards are taken back from the server. Synchronisation is deliberately simple — the last write wins — so finish what you are doing on one side before picking up on the other.
Signing a device out
The account screen lists the devices the account is open on, with when each was last used. “Sign out” removes one, “Sign out everywhere” removes them all. That is what to do with a phone that was lost, sold or given away.
And if I stay signed out?
Everything works, but the progress stays on that device and goes nowhere. It stays there as long as the app is installed.
Deleting your account
In the app: Settings › Delete my account. Without the app, from any browser: beelang.app/en/account/delete. Either way you sign in once more, which is how we know the request is really yours; then the account and its data are deleted.
What you learnt on your own device stays there until you remove the app. A Beelang subscription stops with the account; one billed by Google Play is cancelled with Google — check in Google Play that it no longer renews.
Reaching a human
One address, and a person reads it. Tell us the address the account uses and what you have already tried; we answer as soon as we can.
