Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Team Beelang covering the Beelang application, this website, and the services that go with them (together, the “Service”).
In short: you get a personal licence to use Beelang for your own learning. Learn fairly, do not break the law or interfere with the Service, and remember that Beelang is billed by the payment provider you chose.
Who We Are
The Service is provided by Team Beelang (“Beelang”, “we”, “our”, or “us”).
You can reach us at accounts@beelang.app.
Acceptance of These Terms
By downloading or using the application, by creating an account, or by accepting these Terms in the application, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you accept these Terms on behalf of someone else, you confirm that you have the authority to do so.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we process personal information, and is an important part of understanding the Service.
Eligibility and Accounts
You must be old enough to enter into this agreement in your country, or have the consent of a holder of parental responsibility. Beelang is a general-audience product and is not directed at young children.
You do not need an account in order to learn. Beelang keeps your progress on your own device and works while you are signed out; an account is what carries that progress from one device to the next.
An account is created with an e-mail address and a password. We send a six-digit code to that address to confirm it is yours, and a code of the same kind when you ask to reset a password. Sign-in with Google or with Apple exists in our code but is switched off today; if we ever turn it on, it will be described here first.
You agree to give an address you can actually read, and to keep it up to date. It is the only way we can send you a sign-in code or answer a request about your account.
Account Security
You are responsible for protecting your password and your device, and for what is done through your account. Do not give access to someone who should not have it.
A signed-in account lists the devices it is open on, and any of them can be signed out remotely from any other. Use that list if a device is lost or given away, and tell us at accounts@beelang.app if you think an account has been compromised.
Licence and Permitted Use
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable licence to install and use Beelang on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial learning, and within the rules of the platform you use.
You must not:
- use the Service for an unlawful, abusive or fraudulent purpose;
- use bots, automation or modified clients, or otherwise manipulate experience points, streaks, hearts or league standings;
- harass, threaten, impersonate or abuse other learners or us, or choose a display name that is unlawful, hateful or deliberately offensive;
- access someone else’s account, probe the Service for vulnerabilities, bypass access controls, or interfere with how it runs;
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, copy, modify or make derivative works from the Service, except where the law expressly allows it;
- extract, scrape or republish the course content — its lessons, sentences, word lists, audio or illustrations — in whole or in substantial part;
- resell, rent, sublicense or commercially exploit the Service.
Your Content
Where Beelang lets you provide something of your own — a display name, an e-mail address, a message to support — you keep your rights in it. You give us a limited licence to host, store and process it only as far as it takes to run, secure and support the Service, or to comply with the law.
One part of it is public by design: the display name on your account is shown to the other learners in your weekly league, next to your score for the week. Choose it with that in mind.
You are responsible for having the right to provide what you provide. We may restrict or remove content where that is reasonably necessary to protect someone, to comply with the law, to enforce these Terms, or to keep the Service secure.
Purchases and Subscriptions
Beelang is a paid subscription, which you can try free for seven days where a trial is offered; what it includes, what it costs and any trial are shown before you buy.
On the web, payment is taken by the provider you choose — Stripe, PayPal, or, for Russia, YooKassa — on that provider’s own page. Card details are entered there and never on ours: no card number reaches Beelang. What we keep for each purchase is which provider was used, that provider’s own reference, the amount, the currency, the country, the status, and the message the provider returned, so that a payment can be audited and a dispute answered.
In the Android app installed from Google Play, Beelang is bought through Google Play — except in Russia, where payment goes through YooKassa. Google bills and manages it under its own terms, and such a subscription is cancelled in Google Play › Subscriptions rather than here. Purchases through Apple’s App Store are planned and are not live today.
A recurring subscription renews automatically until it is cancelled. Deleting the application does not cancel a subscription.
Refunds follow the rules of the provider that took the payment, and mandatory consumer law. Nothing in these Terms limits a statutory right of cancellation, conformity, refund or any other consumer right that cannot lawfully be waived.
Trial, Renewal and Cancellation
Where a free trial is offered, its length is shown before you start it. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, Beelang begins and the first payment is taken on the day the trial ends. The trial currently runs for seven days.
A recurring subscription renews automatically for the same period and at the same price until it is cancelled. A lifetime purchase is a single payment and does not renew.
You can cancel at any time from the subscription screen in the application. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not end the period you have already paid for, and Beelang stays active until that period runs out. It is not, by itself, a refund of the current period.
A subscription bought through a provider that manages it on its own pages may also be cancelled there. Deleting the application never cancels a subscription.
Prices, Changes and Tax
The price of each plan is shown before you confirm a purchase. Where a tax applies to your country, it is shown at the checkout before you confirm, and the total you approve is the total that is charged.
We may change the price of a plan. A change never affects a period already paid for: we tell you before it takes effect, it applies only from the next renewal, and you are free to cancel before that renewal if you do not want to continue at the new price.
Right of Withdrawal
If you are a consumer in the European Union or the European Economic Area, you have fourteen days from the day of purchase to withdraw from it, without giving a reason.
Beelang unlocks immediately, which is normally what a learner wants. By starting it during the withdrawal period you ask us to begin straight away and you accept that, once the service has been fully performed, the right of withdrawal is exhausted. If you withdraw while it is only partly performed, you owe an amount in proportion to what you used before withdrawing.
To withdraw, it is enough to tell us in a clear statement at accounts@beelang.app. We refund what is due without undue delay, and by the same means you paid with unless you agree otherwise.
None of this limits any statutory right you have as a consumer, nor any refund a payment provider or an app store grants under its own rules.
Updates and Availability
We may ship updates, security fixes, new course content and changes to features, and may require a current version of the application or of your operating system. We may suspend or discontinue all or part of the Service for maintenance, security, legal, technical or business reasons. Where it is reasonably possible, we will give notice before a material discontinuation. We are not responsible for an outage or a limitation beyond our reasonable control.
Because your progress is kept on your device as well as on our server, a temporary outage normally still leaves you able to carry on learning offline.
Third-Party Services
The Service relies on operating systems, app stores, networks, device services and other third-party services, among them:
- the payment providers named above, for Beelang;
- Brevo, which relays the e-mails carrying sign-in and password-reset codes;
- where you choose your platform’s own speech recogniser for pronunciation exercises, Apple’s or Google’s speech service, which may receive the audio and process it under its own terms.
Their separate terms and privacy policies may apply to you, and you must comply with them. We do not control a third-party service and are not responsible for it, except to the extent the law provides otherwise.
Intellectual Property
We and our licensors own the Service, including its software, its course content, its sentences and word lists, its audio, its illustrations, its design and its branding — everything except the content you provide. These Terms grant only the limited right of use described above. No ownership passes to you.
Suspension, Termination, and Account Closure
You may stop using the Service at any time. To close an account and have its data deleted, use “Delete my account” in the application’s Settings, or the page beelang.app/en/account/delete, which works without the application. Learning you did on your own device stays on that device until you remove the application.
If a Beelang subscription is running, cancel it as well — with the provider that bills it, or in the store account where a store bills it.
We may restrict, suspend or end access where we reasonably believe these Terms have been broken, the Service is being misused, payment is overdue, or action is needed for security or legal compliance. Where it is appropriate, we will give notice and a chance to appeal. Provisions that by their nature should outlast the agreement will survive it, including those on intellectual property, liability and disputes.
Warranties and Liability
We will provide the Service with reasonable care and skill. To the maximum extent the law allows, the Service is otherwise provided “as is” and “as available”, without a guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, free of errors, or suitable for every purpose.
Beelang is a learning aid. We do not promise a particular level, a pass in an examination, or a result within a given time: what you learn depends on the work you put in. Speech recognition is imperfect and may reject a correct pronunciation or accept an imperfect one; pronunciation exercises can be skipped and switched off.
To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, loss of data or progress, or loss caused by events beyond our reasonable control. We do not exclude or limit liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for wilful misconduct, or under mandatory consumer rights. Any other liability is limited only as far as the law permits.
App Store Terms
If you obtained the application through Apple’s App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and Team Beelang, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the application, its content, its maintenance and support, product claims, legal compliance, and the investigation and resolution of intellectual-property claims about it.
Your licence is limited to use on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the Apple Media Services usage rules, including use by associated accounts through Family Sharing where that is allowed. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If the application fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any; to the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a United States government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and that you are not on a United States government restricted-party list. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. The terms of another distribution platform apply in the same way where relevant.
Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of Estonia, and the courts of Estonia have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer, you also keep every mandatory protection and every right to bring proceedings that the law of your country of residence gives you. Please write to us first, at accounts@beelang.app, so that we can try to settle the matter informally.
If we cannot settle it between us, a consumer in the European Union or the European Economic Area may bring the matter before the Consumer Disputes Committee of the Estonian Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (Tarbijakaitse ja Tehnilise Järelevalve Amet).
Other Legal Terms
If part of these Terms turns out to be invalid or unenforceable, it is adjusted or removed only as far as strictly necessary, and the rest continues to apply. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms without our agreement. We may assign them as part of a reorganisation or a transfer of the Service, provided your rights are not materially reduced.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect a change in the law, in security, in technology or in the Service itself. We will publish the new version here and revise the effective date. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will give additional notice if that is required. If you do not accept revised Terms, stop using the Service; you may close your account.
